Halloween has become as commercial as all the other holidays. The push towards Halloween starts in late August with a barrage of candy commercials, TV shows’ Halloween episodes, and morbid paraphernalia flooding any store you walk into. RIP signs. Ghosts. Goblins. Pumpkins. With kids, it amplifies the intensity of the All Hallows Eve annual festival. It is also one more event that keeps parents consumed with children’s activities – principally Halloween parties and events, from school to neighbors.
My wife and I are talking about all the planned Halloween events that we have to shepherd our kids to. Halloween is a month a way. I am exasperated. For two reasons. One, we are always either planning our kids lives or taking them to all of their activities. Two, we have become roommates…two chaperones living in the same house, sharing the same bed.
